Power winger Jase Burgoyne has confirmed out-of-contract Saint and close mate Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera is still "undecided" on where he will play next season, but admits he has given the 22-year-old a sales pitch on life at Alberton.
"[Nasiah] actually doesn't know, from what I've been told, he's still very undecided," Burgoyne told media on Thursday.
"Everyone would love to have him here, he's such a good player, but at the end of the day, the decision he's going to make will be what's best for him, but hopefully that is here.
"Whether that's come here or stay at the Saints, I back him into making the best decision he can, but I'd love to him here. All the boys would love to have him and the fans because he's such a talent. He could push us further into the contention of a premiership."
Wanganeen-Milera is having a stellar fourth season and will almost certainly receive an All-Australian blazer in 2025, averaging a career-high 29.9 disposals and 654 metres gained per game. Burgoyne believes Wanganeen-Milera's connections to Port Adelaide could be enough to lure the current St Kilda star back home.
"We're extremely close, we talk every day, every time he's back in Adelaide we're catching up, bit of YoChi here and there, which was pretty funny when that got out. We're pretty much like brothers so he'd be good to have at the club," he said.
"He's already got links, like his uncle played here. Not only that but growing up he was around the club a little bit. There's a photo going around of me, him and Kozzie [Kysaiah Pickett]... we'd go in the indoor facility and kick the footy around. So he's been around the club a fair bit when he was younger as well.
"I said to him, think about it. We're going to have fun. You got me here, [Horne-Francis] here. He knows some of the other boys as well like Josh Sinn. AFL is obviously a serious job for us but I said to him think about the fun we could have as well."
When quizzed, Burgoyne admitted he wasn't sure if the Crows were also an option for Wanganeen-Milera, but believed he will decide on his future by the end of the season.
"I'm not too sure [if Adelaide is an option]. I can't be inside his head and fully know," Burgoyne said.
"Hopefully that Port is the only decision he'd make if he came back home.
"We have eight weeks left in the year, plus finals. I'm sure he's going to make his mind up over that period of time and hopefully makes the right one."
Jase Burgoyne and the Power continue their season on Sunday, taking on the West Coast Eagles at Adelaide Oval at 4:40pm AEST, while Nasiah and the Saints will welcome Sydney to Marvel Stadium at 3:20pm Sunday.
