Some notes and takeaways from Friday's practice match between Collingwood and Melbourne at Olympic Park.

Collingwood

-Youngster Max Lynch did the majority of the ruck work in Brodie Grundy's absence, while Mason Cox and Jordan Roughhead pinch-hitted from full forward and fullback.

-Brayden Sier, Dayne Beams, Adam Treloar and Taylor Adams attended the most centre bounces.

-Jamie Elliott booted two goals in the first half, while Ben Reid also moved well up forward.

-Brayden Maynard took most of the Pies' kick ins and was busy across half back.

-Rookie Isaac Quaynor came on in the second half and had an immediate impact with a chase down tackle and nice run on the wing.

-Darcy Moore looked solid in defence.

*Notable absences: Brodie Grundy, Scott Pendlebury, Steele Sidebottom, Jordan De Goey, Jeremy Howe, Jaidyn Stephenson, Travis Varcoe. 

Melbourne

-Braydon Preuss was the most dangerous forward target on either team, booting two goals with a real presence about him.

-Despite reports that they are keen to plot him at full forward, Max Gawn spent 80 per cent of the game in the ruck.

-Angus Brayshaw attended the most centre bounces and along with James Harmes and Jay Kennedy-Harris. All three were busy in the midfield.

-Christian Petracca split his time between midfield and forward and looked dangerous as always.

-Jordan Lewis took the majority of the kick ins, while Michael Hibberd found a lot of ball across half back.

*Notable absences: Nathan Jones, Jack Viney, Steven May, Jake Lever, Jake Melksham, Clayton Oliver.
