The trade period is often a market where clubs can secure big fish or cheap bargains.
With a lot of noise centred around the futures of the bigger names in the league (Bontempelli, Rowell, Allen, De Koning, Wanganeen-Milera, Maynard, etc) we thought we'd take a look at some of the more under the radar out of contract players that may be sought after this offseason.
Here are nine underrated players who find themselves without contracts for 2026 that could fetch interest on the open market.
1. Malcolm Rosas
With the position of small forward growing in importance in today's game, Gold Coast's Malcolm Rosas could prove to be an attractive proposition for many teams across the competition.
The 180cm left-footer is a mercurial talent who has shown enough glimpses in his 47-game career to suggest that he could pose a significant attacking threat in the years to come.
In his seven outings at AFL level last season, the Darwin native managed to kick multiple goals on five occasions and was only held goalless once. Rosas Jr has also become a steady improver, increasing his season-long goal per game output from 0 to 0.9 to 1 to 1.7 across his first four seasons with the Suns.
At only 23 years of age, Rosas still has plenty of scope to improve and hopefully fulfil his elite potential.
