The Western Bulldogs have been named as a club keen on Port Adelaide defender Miles Bergman, who has a decision to make on his future in 2025.

Bergman is off-contract this year, having penned a two-year extension with the Power in 2023 after receiving strong interest from clubs in his home state.

Collingwood and St Kilda were among the clubs keen on Bergman before he last re-signed at Alberton, with both Victorian sides expected to show some level of interest in luring Bergman out of South Australia this year.

The Magpies might not be as competitive given they have no first-round draft pick for this year and are tied to several potential first-round draft prospects, however the Saints are expected to be active in this year's player movement space given their salary cap wiggle room.

The Bulldogs are tipped to contend for Bergman's services though, with a potential need for a half-back asset likely filled with a successful acquisition of the Sandringham Dragons product.

"The Western Bulldogs are a fresh club we can add to the conversation here," 7 News reporter Mitch Cleary said on the Tradies podcast of the race for Bergman.

"They've moved Ed Richards and Joel Freijah from half-back into bonafide midfielders, and I think it's a hole emerging on their list now for a player like Miles Bergman.

"The new Bulldogs (player acquisition and strategy manager) Michael Regan has come from Port Adelaide and has a relationship with Miles Bergman.

"He's undecided on his future and there are clubs from Victoria coming for him."

Bergman has played 91 games for the Power since being taken as a first-round draft selection in 2019.

He has emerged as an integral piece in Ken Hinkley's rearguard, having an ability to play on both tall and small opponents while also having an impact on the ball.

The Power lost Dan Houston last year and have most of their half-backs unsigned for next season, with Jase Burgoyne, Ryan Burton, Logan Evans, Josh Sinn and Rory Atkins joining Bergman in being off-contract this year.

Port Adelaide managed to stave off external interest to re-sign free agent Kane Farrell until the end of 2030 earlier this season.
