The eight newest Western Bulldogs have learned which numbers will be strapped on their backs for the 2024 season, with the highlight coming via a piece of father-son symmetry.

Trade period acquisitions Nick Coffield (St Kilda) and James Harmes (Melbourne) will commence the second chapter of their careers wearing new numbers, with the former Saint to wear Brownlow medallist Adam Cooney's No.17 guernsey, while the premiership-winning Demon is set to call locker 22 his own.

Former Hawk Lachie Bramble will take on the number of another ex-Demon in Mitch Hannan, with the rebounder to wear 29 in 2014.

Luke Beveridge's latest litter of pups will start their careers scattered across the locker room, with Ryley Sanders (9), Joel Freijah (27), Aiden O'Driscoll (37) and Lachie Smith (40) all earning their stripes on Friday.

However, it was the announcement that the Bulldogs' latest father-son selection Jordan Croft would be wearing his father Matthew's No.16 guernsey that had old Dogs beaming.

Between 1991 and 2004, Matthew wore the red, white and blue on 186 occasions, 175 of which came with 16 stitched on his back, creating a legacy for his highly-rated son to live up to and continue.
