Brisbane free agent Brandon Starcevich has reportedly gained interest from his home state of Western Australia, with West Coast revealed as a club keen on the premiership defender.
Starcevich is one of four restricted free agents still unsigned for 2026, joining Carlton's Tom De Koning, Hawthorn's James Worpel, and West Coast's own Oscar Allen.
The lockdown backman, who is a product of East Perth, is believed to have interest from clubs in Victoria, with Essendon and North Melbourne both identified as clubs circling Starcevich's situation with the reigning premiers.
The 26-year-old is said to be weighing up his future, with Starcevich having a chance to get a better deal on the open market compared to what he could secure with a new deal in the Queensland capital.
The race for Starcevich's signature is heating up, with the Eagles another potential contender for his services, while Brisbane have a five-year deal in the works.
According to Triple M's Ryan Daniels, the Eagles are weighing up a play for Starcevich as they look to add some experience to their list.
"There are big offers on the table from Brisbane for him to stay. Of course, they love him," Daniels said.
"Essendon are into him as well, and there are a couple of other clubs in Victoria who are saying, 'What's going on here? Why hasn't he signed?'
"West Coast, there is some interest. They are targeting big-bodied veteran players to build around your Harleys (Reid), your Clay Halls, your Elijah Hewetts. They know they need experience, because there's a big patch in their list that's missing.
"Brandon Starcevich would absolutely tick all of those boxes. He's tough, he's strong, and he's a bloody good person too."
One concern for the Eagles in any play for Starcevich would be the outcome that any free agency compensation they receive for the potential departure of Allen could be diluted.
The Eagles are in line to potentially receive band one compensation if Allen leaves via free agency, which would mean the Perth club nets Pick 2 in this year's draft.
However, a successful move for another free agent impacts the compensation they would receive, meaning a later selection would be handed to the Eagles instead of an early first-round pick.
The Eagles could look to strike a trade deal with the Lions instead of opting to sign Starcevich through free agency, with Brisbane's own compensation for losing Starcevich to be impacted by their expected play for Allen, which is expected.
