Melbourne announced the re-signing of Daniel Turner to a four-year deal, extending him until the end of 2030.

Turner joined the Demons via the 2021 Mid-Season Draft, but made his debut the following season against Collingwood in the King's Birthday Clash.

However, the Albury product has quickly made inroads into the senior side, playing 15 games in 2024 before featuring 19 times last season.

"Daniel works incredibly hard on his game, and he has developed into a real asset for us," Melbourne List Manager Tim Lamb said.

"His competitiveness, ability to win critical contests, and the way he supports his teammates have all taken significant steps forward.

"We are thrilled Daniel has committed to the club long term. He's an important part of our future, and we have great confidence in the player he is becoming."

Turner is set to lead a new era in defence under coach Steven King.

Elsewhere, the Demons will be without dashing defender Jake Bowey for the first half of the season.

Bowey will be sidelined after suffering a serious foot injury in pre-season, which is set to see him sidelined for approximately six months.

There's also a watch on veteran Jack Viney, who has been struck down with Achilles soreness. He will be managed until the Christmas break.
