Fresh off a heart-breaking elimination final loss at the hands of the West Coast Eagles, it has been reported that Port Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley could be on his way out of Alberton.

Talking Footy's Sam McClure said that he was confident that Gold Coast CEO Mark Evans would contact Hinkley in regards to the coaching vacancy at the Suns despite the Power coach still having one year to run on his current contract.

"He (Hinkley) will be asked the question...at some stage this week," McClure revealed on Monday night.

While Port Adelaide are hopeful to re-sign him, Port Adelaide CEO David Koch confirmed on Monday that Hinkley had put off contract talks throughout the year, waiting to see how the year panned out.

With Port's season now over, Hinkley's signature seems to be a highly sought after one.

McClure went on to say "if there is an offer that comes to him saying we want you to come back to the Gold Coast Suns, you've got great relationships and we highly rate you," implying that it would be offer that would be seriously considered by Hinkley should the Suns put one forward.

Prior to taking on the role at Port Adelaide's head coach, Hinkley served as an assistant coach at the Suns from 2010-2012.

He has since taken Port to the finals on three occasions since taking the job in 2013 which included a preliminary final appearance in 2014.
