Brisbane's defensive stocks have received a significant boost for the future, with Darcy Wilmot committing to the club until the end of 2029.

After drafting him at Pick 16 in the 2021 Draft, the tough and reliable defender has become a crucial part of Chris Fagan's team, featuring in 83 games across four seasons.

Two-time premiership player Wilmot said he was excited by the club's future direction after back-to-back flags in 2024 and 2025.

“It feels good to re-sign and it was an easy decision as I couldn't see myself playing anywhere else because I absolutely love it here at the Lions,” Wilmot said.

“I love the boys, the footy Club and Brisbane in general - as it's a great place, so I am very excited about what's to come for both our footy Club and the city. I have loved my time at the Club so far and I am very fortunate to be able to be a part of this exciting period."

Lions head of football Danny Daly said the club was delighted to secure Wilmot on a new deal.

“We are absolutely thrilled to have Darcy signed on until 2029 and we have no doubt his teammates and the Brisbane Lions fans will be equally as happy,” Daly said.

“We knew when we drafted him that he had plenty of ability and potential, and to his credit and our coaching staff he has developed into a top defender.

“Darcy has been a key player in helping us experience success and we look forward to many more years of having him, his partner Dion and their families at the Club.”

Wilmot will become a free agent when his new deal expires at the end of 2029.
