The Brisbane Lions have begun their rebuild of the football department, appointing Adelaide head of football, David Noble as the club's general manager of football.

Noble has spent the past decade at the Crows, as an assistant coach, a list manager and most recently head of football.

"David has an outstanding track record and is widely respected across the industry," Brisbane CEO Greg Swann said.

"The club is going in a new direction and we need the best people to lead that change - David really fits the bill across every criteria.

"He is an elite operator and the professionalism, knowledge and experience he will bring to our football department will be key to our club's revival."

Noble will join Swann, list manager Peter Schwabb, three-time Lions premiership player Simon Black and consultant and psychologist Matti Clements on the selection panel for Brisbane's next coach.

  1. really Brad? What planet have you been on? I believe we just played in a semi final? Brisbane have no list, no money, no supporter base, most of the decent players don’t want to play there and none of the decent coaches want to coach there….it is seriously a joke of a football club? May as well hand those cups from the past back mate as i doubt you’ll even survive the next ten years…poor Dayne Beams is your only decent player and even he has been injured since he joined your rabble! give up mate and support the Suns at least!

  2. Played in a semi-final and got smashed,like i said going nowhere.
Lions have signed all but 2 players and know who the coach will be 2 months ago.
We will have the 2 best forwards in the game in schauche and hipwood plus next year we will have a key forward from the academy which some say may go 1 pick.
Buts thats alright you guys have jenkins and walker and betts but in the big games they all go missing.
    Good luck with that.
    The tide will turn.

  3. AFL enforced move. Thankfully he seems a good choice. Next will be the AFL nominated coach. In return, the Lions will get their priority pick request granted. Good boy here’s a bone.
