Former Port Adelaide star Kane Cornes has named his current top five AFL players.

The Power games record expanded on his declaration earlier this week that Giants star Toby Greene is a top five player in the game, who has thrived since standing is as skipper for injured incumbent Stephen Coniglio.

The star forward is fresh off signing a two-year extension with the club, making him a Giant for life.

“You sort of casually speak about it and I said I reckon he’s a top-five player in the game. It was put on social media and everyone loses their mind,” Cornes said on SEN’s The Captain’s Run.

“They agree or disagree, that’s the way it works. I think he genuinely is a top-five player. I’m not walking away from those comments."

Cornes went on to name his top five players as it stands, giving an honourable mention to Melbourne's Max Gawn.

2. Marcus Bontempelli

2021 season averages: 29 disposals, 1.1 goals, 6 clearances

Coming in at Cornes' two seed is Bulldogs skipper Marcus Bontempelli. Arguably the classiest player in the competition and currently at the peak of his powers for the surging Bulldogs, you would be hard-pressed to find anyone who doesn't rate the Bont as a top three player in the game.

Despite getting tagged by opposition most weeks, the star midfielder still finds a way to dominate, and his capacity to swing forward and hit the scoreboard is also a major strength.
