Hawthorn has suffered a blow in a tense final quarter against the Suns, with three-time premiership player, Josh Gibson, ruled out of the remainder of the match.
Gibson had been dealing with an adductor strain from the second quarter of the match and after struggling through the third term, will sit out the final quarter.
Gibson had collected nine disposals in the opening three quarters.
The Hawks also lost Luke Breust and Luke Hodge prior to the match.
The Hawks trailed the Suns 11.14 (80) to 7.6 (48) at three-quarter time.
