Gippsland Power utility Willem Duursma has asserted himself as a genuine Pick 1 contender for the 2025 AFL draft, as his versatility makes him one of the most exciting prospects for AFL clubs in recent memory.
Brother to Xavier Duursma (Essendon), Zane Duursma (North Melbourne), and Yasmin Duursma (Carlton), the youngest sibling could be the best out of the lot. With effective decision-making, remarkable athleticism, and the ability to play across all three lines of the ground, Duursma is one of the most well-rounded prospects in 2025.
The highly-touted prospect is the latest player to be analysed by Craft of the Draft analyst Jonty Ralphsmith in the 'Introducing' series, which dissects a prospect's leading traits and attributes ahead of their draft campaign.
Duursma's raw talent has captivated many in the Coates Talent League this season, and he remains a real chance to be claimed at Pick 1 in this year's National Draft.
"Duursma has the athleticism, versatility, footy IQ and skill to make him a worthy Pick 1 contender," Jonty Ralphsmith said.
"He's a true chameleon and has almost been tailor-made in a science lab for the future of footy.
"He has the near complete skillset and can genuinely play across any line... he has frightening upside."
