Giants midfielder Toby Bedford is the latest injury concern out of Western Sydney, with the 25-year-old suffering a hamstring injury during the club's intraclub practice match on Friday.
Bedford will be sent for scans on Monday to assess the extent of the injury, with the Giants expected to announce a report on his status in the coming days.
However, early signs indicate a longer stint on the sidelines, with SEN's Sam Edmund stating that "the expectation is he will be sidelined for 4-6 weeks".
Bedford featured in all but one of GWS' fixtures last season, primarily as a defensively-oriented midfielder, averaging 11.0 disposals and 5.1 tackles per game.
It means GWS may be tasked with sending out a heavily depleted midfield for their Opening Round clash against Hawthorn next month as another member of the engine room goes down following Tom Green's suspected ACL rupture on Friday.
GWS were one of the luckless sides coming out of AFL Origin too, with defender Sam Taylor removed from the contest at half-time due to hamstring awareness.
Western Australia coach Dean Cox confirmed the issue for the star defender post-game, stating that the state representative side opted to take a cautious approach by benching him.
"[Taylor] felt tight in the hamstring, and this time of year it's tough to go in and say, 'I will keep going' if something was to happen at a worse rate," Cox said.
"We were really cautious and we'll just assess them in the next couple of days once they get back to their clubs. But we didn't want to risk anything."
