Adelaide have been forced into making a squad change ahead of Saturday's Showdown clash with Port Adelaide, ruling out flanker Isaac Cumming for this week at least.

Cumming has reported lower leg soreness, with further assessment forcing the Crows into putting a line through his selection for Round 20.

The decision also comes with some precaution, with the Crows wanting to set up their recruit for the weeks after Saturday's clash against their state rivals.

โ€œIsaac reported some lower leg soreness out the back of last week's game,โ€ Crows high-performance boss Darren Burgess said.

โ€œWe're taking a proactive approach to managing his situation, while ensuring we can maximise his output in the weeks ahead.โ€

Cumming's omission sees young Crow Brayden Cook brought into Matthew Nicks' 23-player side to face the Power at Adelaide Oval this weekend.

Young defender Luke Nankervis has been added to the club's list of emergencies for Round 20, joining Brodie Smith and Chris Burgess.

The Crows were initially unchanged from the side that defeated Gold Coast on Sunday, clearing defender Mitch Hinge to play after he was subbed out in that game with a hip issue.

Adelaide will name their final team to face the Power an hour prior to Saturday night's opening bounce, which is scheduled for 7:40pm local time.
