Collingwood midfielder Lachie Sullivan appears poised for an extension at the club, according to his management, James Pitcher of Odyssey Management.

Sullivan earned his way onto the Pies' list ahead of the 2024 season through the SSP at the age of 26 following a successful period at VFL club Footscray Bulldogs.

The on-baller is among Mason Cox, Tom Mitchell, Noah Howes, Roan Steele and Wil Parker without deals for 2025, with the club assessing its play through the trade and draft periods before making its final list decisions.

Sullivan has played 24 games in the black and white, including 14 in 2025 before a PCL injury ended his season.

"I'd like to think he would (get an extension)," Pitcher said on AFL Trade Radio.

"We've had really good chats with Collingwood since the injury occurred (Round 20). I don't think it's ever been a conversation about him not being there, but it was always going to come down to list spots.

"He had a great exit with Fly and Leppa (Justin Leppitsch) last week, and they were quite clear that they want to find a way to remain at Collingwood, but it will depend on this upcoming trade period and what happens.

"He's done everything to deserve another year at the Pies."

Cox is also intending to extend his career into 2026.

The adaptation to the sub rule and the centre bounce will place a greater emphasis on clubs retaining more genuine rucks, falling in favour of players like the American.

Pitcher, who also looks after Cox, says the 34-year-old would prefer to stay at the AIA Centre, but has begun "looking at other options".

"He had a good exit meeting with Fly, and he has expressed he'd like to continue playing on," Pitcher said.

"We don't have a contract offer at this stage. He'd like to play on with the Pies, but we are also looking at other options."

The Free Agency period opened on Friday, while the trade period will begin on Monday, October 6.
