The Crows have locked in emerging key defender Josh Worrell on a massive contract extension, with the 24-year-old adding a further six years to his current deal that was set to expire in 2027.
The re-signing sees Worrell commit his talents to Adelaide until 2033, joining Fremantle midfielder Hayden Young (2033) and Melbourne star Kysaiah Pickett (2034) in having the longest deals in the AFL currently.
In a press release on Monday, Worrell expressed the ease of the decision to recommit to the club that drafted him 28th overall in 2019.
“To say it was a quick process would be an understatement,” Worrell said.
“I had two years left on my contract, but I really couldn't imagine playing anywhere else.
“I love where this club is heading, I love my teammates, and I love this city. Adelaide is where I want to be for the long term.”
The Crows' General Manager of List Management, Justin Reid, was thrilled to have Worrell commit to the Crows as they enter their latest premiership window.
“Josh is having another outstanding year for us down back,” Reid said.
“His development over the past two seasons has been so impressive, and we've watched him grow into one of the top intercept defenders in the competition.
“The buy-in and belief we have from Josh and our playing group as a whole has been fantastic.”
Worrell has averaged career-best figures in 2025 while featuring in all 23 home-and-away games for the Crows, averaging 20.3 disposals, 5.6 marks and 5.7 rebound 50s per game.
It's been his first full season at AFL level, having battled a number of significant injuries in his early seasons as a Crow, including a broken arm last year.
