St Kilda coach Ross Lyon has hosed down suggestions of unrest within the Saints, declaring defender Callum Wilkie will stay at the club.

Wilkie, Marcus Windhager, Rowan Marshall and captain Jack Steele are among the players to have been linked to a potential move away from Moorabbin in recent days.

“6:30 tonight (Tuesday), in my car, in my driveway, (Wilkie said): ‘Ross, I've never entertained going anywhere else, I love St Kilda, I love what we're doing',” Lyon said on Channel 9's Footy Classified.

“There's a lot of half-baked stories, that's what I see. I hear the noise about contracted players…I would think contracted players are at your club unless you decide otherwise.”

The Saints coach also revealed he has never spoken to West Coast's Harley Reid, contrary to recent reports which linked the Saints to a godfather offer for the young Eagle.

“I love Tim (Watson), but he got this one wrong… clearly (West Coast) think there's something in the ether getting in their way and it certainly isn't me,” Lyon said.

Lyon also poured praise on the growth of out-of-contract star Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera.

“He has absolutely dedicated himself physically and mentally to become what he's become in a short period of time.

“He deserves every accolade he's getting, but he's just at the beginning of his journey, and he's starting to do what Andrew McLeod did at halfback (and) through the midfield…he's pretty special.

"What I'm confident in is we're coaching hard, we're pushing to the line, and he's improving. I'm thrilled we've got this problem… We'll back ourselves in."

Following his guest spot on Footy Classified, Lyon fronted up for his weekly press conference ahead of Friday's clash against Essendon.

However, the topic of trade and players' futures remained a constant.

"Can I just put an overarching statement?" Lyon quizzed

"I am not here to go list management pre-game, going into a Friday game.

"It's not why we call this presser, that's where you're heading again. I'm not prepared to dive into individuals who are contracted or out. Enough is enough, to be honest."
