Jagga Smith has inked a contract extension to remain with the Blues until at least the end of 2030.
Smith was due to come out of contract at the end of 2027, his third year in the AFL, but has signed a three-year extension.
Importantly for the Blues, Smith's new contract takes him past Tasmania's access to uncontracted players in 2027 and 2028.
Carlton's Head of List Management, Nick Austin, said Smith's signature is a boon for the club.
"What we love about Jagga is his willingness to do whatever is asked of him during training or in a game. A natural competitor, he is a player who has the ability to consistently win the ball, bring others into the game, whilst also showcasing impressive leadership for such a young age," Austin said.
"We had him held in high regard going into the draft and had a targeted approach to make him a Blue. Two years on, we are even more impressed with who he is as a player and a person - we are thrilled he has signed on with the Club.
"He is a resilient person with outstanding character and maturity beyond his years, which we saw clearly last year in the way he dedicated himself to his rehab program.
"With only two games under his belt, it's safe to say the best is yet to come with Jagga, and we can't wait to see what he can produce in the Navy Blue."
The Blues traded up the draft board to ensure they didn't miss out on Smith, and the 20-year-old has created a huge impression since arriving at IKON Park as pick 3 in the 2024 National Draft.
After missing his first year due to an ACL injury, Smith has been one of Carlton's best players in the first two games of 2026.
Following an impressive debut in Opening Round against Sydney, where he tallied 27 disposals, Smith earned himself a Rising Star nomination in Round 1, after 32 touches, 11 score involvements, five tackles and three clearances in his first game at the MCG.
