The AFL is set to offer fans and supporters some financial reprieve by slashing 10c off the price of fuel amid a shortage across the country between April 8-13, coinciding with Gather Round.
Fans will need to show their AFL Live App at Shell service stations, and will be in effect by clicking on a Shell banner on the app, which is free to download.
The league is also ensuring help continues throughout the year, retaining the discount in 2026 after April 13 by applying 4c off.
"We know there are many cost-of-living pressures on families and Australians at the moment, and we are continuing to look at ways to continue to keep our game as affordable and accessible as possible," AFL CEO Andrew Dillon said.
"With high fuel prices being faced across the country, we are pleased that we can help make travel — regardless of your destination — more accessible.
"Whether you're travelling in the school holidays period for a getaway, or taking the kids to the local footy, we hope this offer will help ease pressures on families across the country."
The deal only applies at participating Shell Reddy Express sites across the country.
Fears have risen regarding the football festival located in South Australia, as fans weigh up whether to spend the costs driving from neighbouring states to watch games at Adelaide Oval, Barossa Valley and Norwood.
The national average price of fuel in Australia is $253.4 for ULP.
South Australia Tourism Commission provided the following statistics from Gather Round:
"The 2025 Gather Round saw a total attendance of 269,506 at nine matches played across Adelaide Oval, Norwood and Barossa Park, with 36 per cent of attendees coming from interstate.
"More than 54,000 visitors came to SA from out of state, up 18 per cent on 2024, with the report recording notable growth in visitors from Western Australia and New South Wales.
"Last year, the long weekend of football generated $113.9 million contribution to the economy, which was 24 percent higher than 2024 ($91.6 million) and 36 percent more than the inaugural edition of Gather Round in 2023."
