Fremantle coach Justin Longmuir is toying with tasking two of his players with the Kysaiah Pickett tagging role in Saturday's clash.
The last time these teams met, Pickett dominated the Dockers at the MCG, kicking five goals from 24 disposals.
However, given the livewire's ability to go through the midfield and play up forward, the difficulty would be transitioning one Fremantle run-with to the next.
Corey Wagner and Brandon Walker pose as the likeliest of options to curb Pickett, given their speed and versatility, although Wagner has previously been assigned more deliberate tagging roles.
"The tricky thing if you have two players looking after him is getting that transition piece right post centre bounce or post stoppage," Longmuir said.
"Then you need the athletic traits to keep up with him and stop him. We feel like we've got some good options.
"Clearly, last time we played them, he had an impact, but I don't think we helped the players who played on him up the ground. The ball moved too quickly, and he's pretty dangerous to anyone if they do that."
The Dockers will be forced into one change, with Hayden Young injuring his hamstring on the lower end during the Geelong loss.
Longmuir said he hopes it'll only be one week, but admitted it was "tricky" given he completed the Cats match and ran earlier in the week.
Murphy Reid and Shai Bolton are expected to attract more midfield minutes in Young's absence, while Neil Erasmus and Matthew Johnson are also touted as replacements in the role.
SSP recruit Christopher Scerri will debut for the Dockers a month after committing to the club.
Scerri impressed during his VFL stint with the Northern Bullants in 2025, earning Best First Year Player honours.
"It's been a crazy two months, Scerri said.
"Things can happen really quickly, and you just gotta get up to it."
Former Pie Mason Cox is also in consideration after Sean Darcy's lowly performance last week.
