Draft time often leaves AFL fans searching for omens or wanting to snap unwanted trends of the past.

Each club has its good and bad draft tales that have either set them up for the long haul or hampered their list builds at critical junctures.

The 2025 AFL Draft could do the same for several teams, who will be hoping their current suite of selections uncovers some diamonds in the rough.

Richmond

Picks: 3, 4, 38

When you're drafting at Picks 3 and 4, you might want a little bit more success, but the coup of Dustin Martin certainly makes up for the others. The triple Norm Smith Medal winner is somehow considered a steal despite being on the podium of the 2009 draft, which proved to be a tricky one for other clubs. Mutphy played just 12 games in the yellow and black, while Aaron Fiora and Richard Tambling were taken ahead of Matthew Pavlich and Lance Franklin at their respective drafts.

Pick 3: Justin Murphy, Aaron Fiora, Dustin Martin

Pick 4: Richard Anderson, Richard Tambling

Pick 38: N/A
