GWS have put a line through Toby Bedford's playing prospects for Sunday's matchup with Geelong, with the Giants forward dealing with an eye injury.

Bedford was listed as a test for Round 9 after suffering a knock to the head in last week's loss to Sydney, with the 24-year-old unable to finish the match.

While he had avoided a concussion, Bedford was dealing with blurred vision and needed to prove his fitness at training this week.

The ex-Demon was named in midfield as part of GWS' team selection on Thursday, with Friday's main training session a deciding factor in his playing chances.

Giants coach Adam Kingsley has since confirmed that Bedford won't make the trip to Kardinia Park, with the New South Wales side set to add to their confirmed outs for this weekend.

"Toby's no good," Kingsley told media on Friday.

"He saw an ophthalmologist yesterday afternoon and the decision this morning was that he won't play. There's a little bit too much concern over his eye.

"He'll miss the trip down to Geelong."

GWS have lost small forward Darcy Jones to a knee issue for this week, with Kingsley naming as many as four potential inclusions.

Key forward Jake Riccardi is joined by young trio Harry Rowston, Ryan Angwin and Cody Angive as potential ins for the Giants, with the latter a chance to make his AFL debut.

The Giants have named their four potential inclusions on their extended interchange alongside Joe Fonti, Callum Brown, Toby McMullin and Josaia Delana.

GWS will confirm their 23-man side for Sunday's game against the Cats at 5:00pm (AEST) on Friday, with final teams to be named an hour prior to the match's 3:20pm bounce.
