GWS have decided not to offer young defender Josh Fahey a new contract for 2026 and beyond.

The delisting sees the Giants Academy graduate depart the club after four seasons in orange, with Fahey playing seven games at AFL level.

The 21-year-old's debut came in Round 10 last year against Geelong, with Fahey featuring in a further six games that season.

Fahey has played 44 games for the Giants' VFL side, with injuries and suspension also limiting his tally across his quartet of campaigns.

“It's always a difficult time of year, and unfortunately, we weren't able to offer Josh a list spot moving forward,” football boss Jason McCartney said in a statement.

What was the AFLPA's response to the GWS sanctions?

“Josh has been a valued member of our football program, and we acknowledge the effort and commitment he has shown throughout his time at the Giants.

“We thank Josh for his contribution to the club and wish him every success for the future, both on and off the field.”

Fahey's exit adds to the list of off-season departures at GWS, who have bid farewell to Callan Ward (retired), Lachie Keeffe (retired), Leek Aleer (trade) and Jacob Wehr (free agency).
