It's been another massive week of trade news and speculation, with several stars of the game linked to moves and new deals.

We also look at some names that North Melbourne and the Western Bulldogs should have their eye on in the run-in to the player movement window.

Here's all the latest trade news and analysis from the past week...

St Kilda targeting star's family member

The Saints are pulling at all strings in their attempt to re-sign Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera, reportedly eyeing family member Tex Wanganeen, the former Essendon forward.

Wanganeen currently plays state level football for Port Melbourne in the VFL, where he averages 12.4 disposals per game.

St Kilda are "desperate" to bring in the 21-year-old, hoping to add Tex to their training squad over summer in a bid to keep his cousin on a long-term contract.

It's no secret Christian Petracca's midfield minutes have dwindled in recent weeks, with the Demons preferencing Kysaiah Pickett and Caleb Windsor over the 2021 Norm Smith medallist.

This has led Chief Herald Sun reporter Jay Clark to theorise a potential move for Petracca to a major Victorian club this off-season; Hawthorn.

A potential trade involving Petracca could see the Hawks bolster their inside midfield depth and clearance winning ability, which has been a weakness for the club this season, while the Dees could find themselves with a plethora of high-end draft picks and one of Hawthorn's tall forwards.

Adelaide continuing pitching move for star ruck

Adelaide hasn't given up on its chase for Essendon free agent Sam Draper despite recent reports that he was heading for Brisbane.

Despite recently extending long-serving ruck Reilly O'Brien, it is understood that Crows coach, Matthew Nicks, called Draper in a bid to lure him to South Australia.

It is understood the phone call went well and has pushed Adelaide back into the stakes for Draper's services, though Reilly O'Brien expressed hesitancy over the move and what it means for his future as the club's number one ruckman.

Geelong has reportedly put forward a four-year offer to Hawthorn's James Worpel in a bid to lure him down the highway.

Worpel has been heavily linked with a move to the Cats since he entered the AFL, after captaining the Geelong Falcons during his draft year.

It is understood that Geelong's offer matches that of the Hawks in terms of length, according to the Herald Sun's Jay Clark, as the Cats seek to bolster their inside midfield depth with Patrick Dangerfield entering the twilight years of his career and Bailey Smith and Max Holmes primarily starring as outside runners.

Hawthorn going full throttle for midfield superstars

Hawthorn is reportedly "all in" on Port Adelaide midfielder Zak Butters and West Coast wunderkind Harley Reid as they look to bolster their list at the end of the season.

Both players are contracted with their respective clubs through the 2026 season, but that won't stop any attempts from the Hawks, according to 9 News' Tom Morris.

It's reported that the Butters move is one to particularly keep an eye on if Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera opts to sign with the Power, as the move could reduce his midfield minutes.

The Suns could look to dramatically shake up the 2025 trade period, as reports suggested they may be targeting Magpies Jamie Elliott and Beau McCreery.

Elliott is yet to sign an extension with Collingwood, leaving his future beyond 2025 up in the air.

A move to Queensland has always presented as an option for Elliott, with Brisbane also being linked to the crafty forward amid his career-best season, but Gold Coast's fresh interest has spiced up the race for his signature.

However, no official offer has reportedly been tabled.

Gold Coast are also aggressively targeting Pies speedster Beau McCreery, according to Fox Footy's Jon Ralph in the hopes of adding some outside run to their boisterous midfield.

While McCreery is contracted to the Pies until 2027, and Collingwood have said he is "going nowhere", Ralph believes McCreery is yet to rule out the move personally.

Kangaroos expressing interest in 'established defenders'

North Melbourne have inserted themselves into the races for Brisbane defender Brandon Starcevich and Carlton's Jack Silvagni.

The Kangaroos are looking to bolster their defensive line, and are in desperate need to field some experience under Alastair Clarkson.

The interest comes as the pair of free agents weigh up their futures at their respective clubs, with North Melbourne reportedly "asking the question" on both players.
