GWS will hope a host of star players will be available for selection in their first final, which should send shivers down the spines of the entire competition.

Brent Daniels is a name that has largely been forgotten about in 2025 due to adductor issues plaguing his season, limiting him to six outings, mostly as a substitute or pulled from the game.

But Giants coach Adam Kingsley provided a positive update leading into the Round 24 clash against St Kilda.

Daniels will play the entire VFL game on Saturday against Richmond at ETU Stadium in a bid to put his hand up for selection in September.

"He'll play VFL this week," Kingsley said.

"Just not 100 per cent certain on his fitness. We'll see him get through a VFL game and then make that assessment for the first final, hopefully.

"He's played less than a full game since Round 3. Played the Port Adelaide game, then lasted about 10 minutes in the Brisbane game.

"He's rapt to get out there and play. He's nervous, obviously, but that's natural. We're looking forward to seeing him play tomorrow."

In more positive news, Jake Stringer (hamstring) and Josh Kelly (calf) are "progressing quite well" and are expected to be available for the first final.

Coleman Medallist Jesse Hogan also received optimistic news regarding his persistent foot injury and is likely to ramp up his preparations next week.

However, Kingsley revealed that elite key defender Jack Buckley (calf) was "just not quite right" and will be held back another week.

But before they reach September, the looming contest against the Saints, who have won the last four on the trot, poses as a banana peel clash.

St Kilda defeated Carlton in a similar position to the Giants in the corresponding game last year, and have found form of late to test the rival clubs.

The main reason for that has been Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera's outstanding performances.

"We need to make sure we quieten him down," Kingsley said.

"He's an outstanding player... Had a significant impact on how well the Saints have been going over the last month.

"We can't allow him to run around and do what he does, cause that will take them a long way to winning this game. We'll have plans in place for him.

"We know he's going to have an impact on this game. We just need to restrict that impact."
