GWS coach Adam Kingsley says the club won't risk Coleman medallist Jesse Hogan against Adelaide on Saturday if he's not 100 per cent right.
The club didn't declare any specific injury, but Hogan is dealing with ongoing muscle soreness, and, as a result, didn't train on Thursday.
The Giants had a quick six-day turnaround from their Gather Round victory over St Kilda.
"It's not un-normal (sic) to see Jesse not train on a six-day break. He manages his body pretty carefully," Kingsley said on Thursday.
"He is a bit sore out of the game (against St Kilda), so we'll just see how that plays out tomorrow.
"If it gets to a point where we think it's a risk we won't play him, but I don't think it'll be that."
If Hogan were to be pulled from the senior side, Kingsley mentioned that Max Gruzewski and Lachie Keeffe are viable options to replace him.
Gruzewski has kicked eight goals in the past two VFL contests, while Keeffe was in the senior side earlier in the season when the Coleman medallist was nursing a broken thumb.
Tagger Toby Bedford could also spend some time on Adelaide captain Jordan Dawson, with the Giants coach alluding to the effective tactic in previous match-ups.
But noted Izak Rankine could also be a target.
"He's tagged Dawson in the past," Kingsley said.
"And we've had reasonable effect in doing that. He's an important player. He impacts both phases of the game.
"Rankine has been a really strong clearance player for them, and we know he can play forward as well.
"It depends where they line up. And typically we like to keep Toby in the midfield."
The Giants will also get a chance to reunite with former player Isaac Cumming, who crossed to the Crows last year as a free agent.
Ex-GWS midfielder James Peatling was in line to feature against his old club, but is serving a one-game suspension.
"We won't pay any extra attention to him (Cumming). We'll enjoy playing against him," Kingsley said.
"He's obviously a really good clubman of this footy club for a long period of time and a close friend to a lot of our people.
"We'll make sure that he doesn't influence the game, but we'll shake his hand at the end of the game."
The Giants are still working through the availabilities of Brent Daniels (abdominal) and Stephen Coniglio (glute), who'll miss another week of football with "minor" injuries.
The pair have been close to returning to the senior side, but have failed to pass fitness tests late in the week.
