Cameron Ling has whacked the Power's effort, or lack there of, during commentary in last night's 70-point loss to the Bombers.
Port Adelaide, who had been considered by some to be flag contenders following the side's first 10 games of the season, was humiliated by Essendon 19.17 (131) to 8.13 (61) at Etihad Stadium on Saturday night.
Essendon backman turned forward, Cale Hooker, had his best game of the season, booting five goals, while Zach Merrett and Dyson Heppell dominated through the midfield, finishing with 38 and 34 disposals respectively.
Ling blasted the Power's inability to put any pressure on their opponents and their lack of intensity, particularly given some impressive recent performances.
โThis is one of the most insipid full-ground defensive performances I have seen all year,โ Ling said on Channel Seven on Saturday night.
โPort Adelaide should be ashamed the way that they have played tonight. It is probably their best 22 playing for the season here.
โIf they want to be taken seriously, I mean really seriously as a team and we started discussing them as a top four potential, you canโt play like this.
โWe have seen countless occasions of Essendon bringing the ball through the corridor untouched. This is not serious footy that they are playing tonight.โ
The side's percentage, which was the best in the league prior to last night, fell from 148 to 133 following the loss, which saw them concede the highest score they have conceded for the year.
Despite the heavy loss, the Power's ladder position (currently fifth), cannot change at the end of the round, with the side sitting at 6-5.
They face Brisbane at Adelaide Oval next Saturday.
