North Melbourne young gun Harry Sheezel has heaped praise on second-year player Finn O'Sullivan, who is starting to gain attention after a hot start to 2026.

Given increased midfield responsibility in 2026, he negated Zach Merrett in the Kangaroos' second win on Saturday night, earning 10 coaches votes.

"He's a freak. His mentality and the way he wants to win for the team, play his role for the team. He did that last year and probably flew under the radar a lot externally but he got that respect since he walked into the footy club," Sheezel said on AFL 360.

"He's so selfless and wants to do anything to win, we saw that on the weekend. We absolutely love playing with him."

Sheezel also revealed that O'Sullivan received a player-voted award in two of the first three weeks of the season.

He also offered an insight into the increasing chemistry of the club's emerging midfield group, which has taken a visible stride forward in 2026.

"I think it's just a natural progression playing more games together, doing pre-season together, we've physically matured. You can't fast track that experience, we've seen that over the last few years," Sheezel added.

"We have talent on our list but haven't been able to have that success. The more games we play together, the more we understand each other's games, our own game-plan and we're definitely not taking over (the midfield), the leaders are doing an incredible job, Luke Parker is making it look easy."
