Former North Melbourne premiership player and current Fox Footy analyst David King has been fined and had his licence suspended for 10 months after a drink driving incident back in October last year.

King was involved in an accident in the early hours of the morning on October 3, and on Monday pleaded guilty to exceeding the blood alcohol level of 0.05, failing to provide a name and address at the scene of a crash and careless driving.

The Melbourne Magistrates Court was told he drove his car into a stationary taxi at Southbank, before stopping and getting out to check on the driver and passenger.

Richmond spearhead Jack Riewoldt was in the taxi at the time, but escaped without injury.

King then drove away from the scene, with his lawyer telling the magistrate King was unaware the taxi was damaged before driving off.

Police then found and arrested King soon after, as he blew 0.10 - twice the legal limit.

The former Kangaroo was handed a $1200 fine, had his licence suspended for 12 months and will now have an interlock device fitting to his car.
