Melbourne has softened their stance on allowing superstar Christian Petracca to explore his options over the past 12 months to the point where Adelaide and Gold Coast are genuinely considering making a move.

Petracca, who is contracted until the end of 2029, was seen landing in Adelaide ahead of a suspected meeting with the Crows, while the Suns' links won't go away.

It is the second successive off-season that the 2021 Norm Smith medallist has been open to a fresh start, although it's the first time outside of Victoria.

The Demons have a right to deny any advances made by the pair of rivals if a deal isn't satisfactory.

But, in a world where we see Petracca on the move, what would a trade look like? We look at four offers that could interest Melbourne...

3. The picks and player package - Gold Coast edition

Gold Coast trade: Picks 6 and 31, Sam Flanders
Melbourne trade:
Christian Petracca, Pick 23

The Suns have three first-round selections, courtesy of their dealings with Port Adelaide and Collingwood last year.

Despite the influx of high-end Academy prospects, Gold Coast could use Picks 6 and 31, as well as Sam Flanders, to hold up their end of the bargain.

Melbourne would send Petracca north, as well as Pick 23.

The Demons would still get an established midfielder (Flanders) as well as re-entering the draft (Pick 6), whilst also holding a selection later in the piece.
