Collingwood's AFLW team has welcomed Daniel Wells to its coaching ranks as the club finalised its structure for the upcoming season.

Wells will return to the AIA Centre as the midfield development coach for the women's side.

The former Pick 2 in the 2002 National Draft, he spent three seasons at the Magpies after a 14-year stint at North Melbourne. He played 258 games across his AFL career. He left the Kangaroos as an unrestricted free agent.

Wells' former teammate Sam Wright will once again lead the Collingwood side as coach, and will be supported by three-club player Dom Tyson (senior assistant and backline coach), ex-Sun Dan Currie (forwards), and ex-Pie Tom Wilson (midfield and head of development).

Wells will work alongside Jess Duffin (backline development) and Tom Cashin (forward development) in the development space.

Another new addition to the group is Cam Morris, who joins the program as Head of Strategy.

Collingwood GM of Women's Football Jess Burger said the panel will play a pivotal role in helping guide the team into the new season.

"Our coaching team has laid the groundwork for growth and performance, and we look forward to seeing that development come to life this season," Burger said.

"Each member of the coaching group brings deep football knowledge and experiences, paired with the ability to connect meaningfully across the program with players and staff.

"Daniel's return is a great addition to the panel. His understanding of the game is exceptional, and his ability to convey messaging through clear direction is a real strength. We're proud to have him back in the fold.

"There's a strong sense of purpose heading into Season 10, as our coaches, players, and staff are aligned in the commitment to drive the growth required to achieve sustained success."
