Former Gold Coast and West Coast midfielder Ryan Davis has been appointed as senior coach of Adelaide's AFLW side.

Davis replaces the long-serving Matt Clarke, who concluded his seven-year run at West Lakes at the cessation of the 2025 season after leading the Crows to a pair of premierships.

Adelaide, who finished sixth on the ladder this year before exiting the finals at the hands of Melbourne in a semi-final, announced the appointment of Davis on Tuesday.

The 36-year-old steps into the senior coaching role after two seasons as an assistant with Brisbane under Craig Starcevich.

Davis has previously coached at Southport and brings top-flight playing experience, having been listed with both the Eagles and the Suns between 2008 and 2017, playing 35 AFL games.

"It's clearly been a very successful program, and my job is to try and do everything I can to enhance it further and bring positive results on and off the field," Davis said of his move to South Australia.

"I will bring an enthusiasm and love for the game, partnered with high playing and training standards, where we will consistently be striving to get better.

"We will demand the best from each other to make sure we maximise our talent and potential, both individually and collectively.

"We can't wait to move to Adelaide and for me to get my teeth stuck into the work ahead."

A highly rated assistant, Davis has been touted as a coach with strengths in player development and leading new strategies.

"We are really proud of what our AFLW program has been able to achieve over the years and enter a new era firmly believing Ryan can guide us to more success," Crows CEO Tim Silvers said.

"He has a proven record of developing talent and fostering and being involved in environments where players, coaches and staff get the best out of themselves.

"He's also passionate about women's footy and has a clear vision for our program's future."
