Melbourne has added another new face to its mix, poaching Ned Guy from the AFL in the newly created role of Chief of Football and Innovation.
Guy spent the last four years at league headquarters as Head of Football Performance, List Management and Engagement, playing a critical role in CBA negotiations, strategic football projects and overseeing the Laws of the Game Committee.
That role followed a five-year stint at Collingwood as the club's list manager, which included the controversial time of the 2020 'fire sale', where players Adam Treloar, Jaidyn Stephenson and Tom Phillips were moved on under contract.
Prior to that, Guy was also a successful AFL player manager.
"Ned is a highly capable and analytically minded executive with over 15 years of
experience across the AFL industry," Demons CEO Paul Guerra said.
"He comes to the Demons with a rare 360-degree perspective of footy, having
operated as a Player Manager, a club-based General Manager of List and most recently as a senior leader within the AFL.
"We are excited by Ned's ability to impact and support our football programs, while also utilising his expertise across the business more broadly."
Guy will commence his new role in February and will oversee both the club's men's and women's football programs.
His inclusion comes as the club has welcomed Guerra, along with Steven King and Steve Smith (president), among changes to the coaching staff.
NRL legend Ryan Hoffman is also working in a part-time leadership capacity to help navigate through the new era.
Melbourne's long-standing Chief Operating Officer, David Chippindall, has advised that he will be finishing at the club after 18 years of service.
"I am extremely proud of all I have achieved in my time at the club and leave the Demons with life-long friendships and memories," he said.
"I have given absolutely everything to the club throughout my tenure and feel that the time is now right for me to explore what is next for me outside of the Melbourne Football Club."
