A Hawthorn forward duo combined for eight goals, while a forgotten first-round Gold Coast midfielder stacked the stat sheet.

A pair of Cats put their name in lights for the Mid-Season Draft as a young Giants tall continues to impress in the reserves.

The Northern Bullants were the only team on the sidelines this week.

Here's a recap of the VFL's weekend results and the standout performers from each game.

North Melbourne (84) def. Carlton (82)

Alastair Clarkson could look to his reserves for team changes as a host of youth put their hand up for senior selection.

Will Phillips was instrumental in the nail-biting victory over Carlton, gathering 23 disposals, 10 tackles and four clearances.

Ruck-forward Brynn Teakle was equally as influential, but failed to capitalise in front of goal, kicking 1.3.

Bailey Scott responded to his axing with 21 touches while Cooper Harvey kicked three majors.

For the Blues, the Camporeale twins were pivotal in the club's chances, combining for 48 disposals, 11 marks and six tackles.

AFL hopeful Liam McMahon kicked four goals while Ashton Moir joined him with two.

VFL-listed player and former Bulldog Will Hayes was arguably best afield, gathering 37 possessions and a goal in the loss.

Brisbane (107) def. Collingwood (106)

A behind after the siren secured Brisbane the one-point victory in a dramatic affair.

Lions Academy forward Fergus McFadyen was the hero on Good Friday, kicking five goals and the winning score, while Ty Gallop joined him with four majors.

Deven Robertson dominated in the midfield, collecting 35 disposals and 11 clearances, as ruckman Darcy Fort matched him with 28 possessions, 16 clearances and 28 hit-outs.

Sam Marshall featured in the VFL after debuting as the sub, recording 26 touches and eight clearances as Tom Doedee continues to build his loads up from successive ACL injuries.

Collingwood draftee Will Hayes was super impressive with his run and dash, slotting three majors from 14 touches to keep the scoreboard ticking over.

Ed Allan, like Marshall, featured in the reserves after playing as the sub on Thursday night. He had 23 touches and a goal.

Finlay Macrae was not at his usual ball-winning best (17 touches) while Tew Jiath, Oleg Markov and Joel Cochran pose as defensive depth options for Craig McRae.

Williamstown Seagulls (68) def. by Coburg Lions (119)

Multiple Lions players cashed in on the club's dominant performance, with Jack Andrew (four goals), Matthew Allison (three) and Ryan Valentine (three) all hitting the scoreboard.

Midfielders Joel Trudgeon (one goal, 35 touches and 10 clearances) and Josh D'Intinosante (two goals, 25 possessions and seven clearances) were pivotal in the victory, while Flynn Gentile joined them with a strong outing.

Williamstown's Jovan Petric was the only shining light for the Seagulls, kicking four goals.

Ruckman Tom Downie registered plenty of clearances but too little effect as ball-winners Jake Greiser and Joel Fitzgerald found plenty of footy.

Frankston Dolphins (98) def. Richmond (73)

The Dolphins had a raffle of players who put their hand up for best afield in their 25-point win over Richmond.

Blake O'Leary (three goals and 23 touches) and Trent Mynott (three goals and 24 touches) immediately stood out to onlookers, while Tom Blamires and Sebastian Quirk found plenty of the football.

Tarkyn O'Leary also bobbed up with three majors.

Tyler Sonsie did his AFL recall chances no harm with an outstanding performance through the midfield, gathering 35 possessions and a goal.

Kaleb Smith and Kane McAuliffe were just as crucial to the Tigers while mid-season fancy Massimo Raso continued his hot form with three goals.

Jacob Bauer slotted four goals and will be in the mix for the Anzac Day eve clash against Melbourne.

Top draftee Josh Smillie continues to prove his case for a debut as he makes his way back from a hamstring injury.

Casey Demons (67) def. by GWS (120)

The Giants' efficiency in front of goal proved the difference, as Max Gruzewski and Nathan Wardius combined for nine goals.

Ruckman Nicholas Madden was dominant through the midfield, recording 33 hit-outs, 29 touches and 13 clearances.

James Leake was a bull through the centre of the ground as Leek Aleer proved to be rock-solid in defence.

Ex-Saint Riley Bonner did everything he could to will his side over the line, collecting 36 touches, 10 marks and a goal.

Bailey Laurie was pivotal to the Demons' chances, while SSP pick Jai Culley performed strongly.

Jacob van Rooyen didn't respond to his axing as Simon Goodwin would've hoped, kicking one goal from nine touches and six marks.

Bayley Fritsch was also quiet.

Sydney (75) def. Werribee Tigers (73)

VFL-listed Swan Matt Lloyd was the difference maker in the two-point victory, kicking three majors from 16 touches, nine marks and five tackles.

Ruckman Peter Ladhams will come into selection consideration for Dean Cox after slotting two goals from 22 disposals, 25 hit-outs and 11 clearances.

Ben Paton and Angus Sheldrick had their hands on the sherrin often throughout the contest as Jack Buller kept the scoreboard ticking over with three goals.

Logan McDonald's road to recovery continues as he recorded eight touches, one goal and five marks.

The Tigers, on the other hand, didn't do much wrong but were unable to secure the four points.

Goals to Hudson Garoni and Zac Banch weren't enough to swing the result Werribee's way, as Dominic Brew and Louis Pinnuck were instrumental in the defeat.

Southport Sharks (111) def. Gold Coast (56)

A cross-town battle between the two Queensland clubs saw the Sharks dominate the Suns.

Jackson Edwards kicked three goals from 26 touches, while Max Pescud joined him with three majors of his own.

Jacob Dawson and Boyd Woodock led the disposals for Southport, with the latter also picking up 10 clearances.

But the staggering performance of Brayden Fiornini is arguably the best of the round from an individual perspective.

Fiorini's stat line read like this: 47 disposals, 13 marks, eight clearances, six tackles and 189 ranking points.

Unfortunately for Gold Coast, not many joined him.

Port Melbourne Borough (55) def. by Essendon (71)

Untried tall Lewis Hayes may be in a shot for an Anzac Day debut after a stellar outing in the VFL.

Hayes recorded 25 touches, 12 marks and six tackles in the 16-point win. Midfielder Elijah Tsatas will also be in consideration after his 31 disposals and 16 clearance effort.

Jayden Laverde could be brought in to add some height to Brad Scott's side after Sam Draper went down with a leg injury.

Alwyn Davey Jr. kicked three goals.

Borough leader Harvey Hooper continues to give recruiters something to think about after collecting 31 possessions and five clearances in the loss.

Ex-Kangaroo Charlie Lazzaro was noticeable with his performance, while former Essendon captain Dyson Heppell featured against his old side.

Geelong (73) def. by Box Hill Hawks (119)

Hawthorn forward Jack Ginnivan has responded emphatically to his senior axing with a four-goal performance to go with his 23 touches as Box Hill defeated Geelong.

Sam Butler, who broke his leg last year, also kicked four goals in the win, while project forward-ruck Max Ramsden slotted three.

Emerging midfielder Henry Hustwaite feasted on ruckman Ned Reeves' 49 hit-outs, with the former gathering 35 possessions, 12 clearances and eight tackles.

Mid-Season Draft fancies Nathan Kreuger and Charlie McCartin didn't hurt their stocks for Geelong.

Kreuger kicked three goals and featured in the ruck, while McCartin took 11 marks and recorded 25 possessions.

Veteran Mitch Duncan also produced a strong performance, as did young midfielder Jhye Clark (26 disposals and four clearances).

Footscray Bulldogs (71) def. by Sandringham Dragons (89)

Ross Lyon can be buoyed by a host of young St Kilda players who performed strongly in the VFL.

Tobie Travaglia kicked two goals from 25 disposals, while Hugh Boxshall collected 32 possessions, 11 clearances and nine tackles.

Emerging ruck Max Heath was dominant in the victory, recording 25 hit-outs, 24 touches, nine marks and seven clearances.

VFL-listed player Jonah Campigli kicked five goals.

Untried Western Bulldogs defender Jedd Busslinger continues to press his case for a senior debut, registering 30 touches and seven marks in the back half.

Winger Caleb Poulter kicked three goals from 15 possessions while Oskar Baker (24 disposals) and Lachie Jaques (22 touches) found plenty of the ball.

Veterans Ryan Gardner and Taylor Duryea were relatively quiet, but provided much experience in the defeat.
