The past has seen the Sydney Swans lure big fish to the heart of New South Wales, with the club having a history of attracting some of the best forwards the competition has seen over the past three decades.

The club would be keen to continue that trend, eyeing off top-line talent that can take them a step further as they boast a star-studded engine room.

Depth at either end of the field for Dean Cox's squad will be in mind when contemplating what the Swans could acquire, with the AFL's trade landscape having several names that might suit Sydney's needs.

Here we've looked at five players the Swans could target to bolster their list for 2026 and beyond.

Defensive options should also be on Sydney's hit list, both experienced and emerging.

Serong suits the latter, but could arrive at a new club as a player ready to slot into a starting side, having continuously knocked on the door for selections at Hawthorn.

The recent arrivals of Josh Battle and Tom Barrass haven't helped Serong's playing prospects, having last featured in the Hawks' semi-final defeat to Port Adelaide last year - his fifth appearance for 2024.

That same year, he took out Box Hill's best and fairest, and made the VFL Team of the Year squad in just his third year in the brown and gold.

For the Swans, Serong wouldn't come with much cost and could be a high-upside addition who is keen for opportunity.
