St Kilda hasn't officially said it, but they are in a rebuilding phase, and have been for the past two years.
The Saints have welcomed a host of young talent in recent seasons, headed by Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera, and now believe established stars are the way forward.
The interest in a Carlton ruckman has been well documented, while it is widely believed that a Giants defender is bound for Moorabbin.
But who else would improve St Kilda's list going forward?
Here are five trade and free agency targets for St Kilda to consider this year.
5Jesse Motlop
Another one from Carlton amid an uncertain time at IKON Park.
Aside from Jack Higgins, the Saints are in need of a crafty small forward, and Jesse Motlop fits the bill.
The 21-year-old is currently without a deal for 2026 and beyond, and any club in their right mind should ask the question of his availability.
After a breakout season in 2023, Motlop has plateaued since, reflective of the Blues' past 18 months.
He has been subject to a game plan that doesn't favour small forwards, and instead, would benefit from a faster, more dynamic style that the Saints are clearly trying to implement.
It would also assist Higgins and Dan Butler in the front half, joining the likes of premiership contenders in having multiple gun smalls inside 50.
