The Brisbane Lions have become top eight regulars this decade and consistently find themselves in premiership contention.
The great teams of the modern era always find ways to get better each season, however, so as the Lions seek to reach a third consecutive Grand Final, they'll also have a keen eye on the impending trade period. With several key positional players off-contract, Brisbane have the opportunity to drastically shake up - and improve - the current core of their playing list.
Here are five trade and free agency targets for Brisbane to consider this year.
2Oscar Allen
As each day passes, West Coast captain Oscar Allen looks more than likely to depart the Eagles this off-season, with Brisbane as the heavy favourites to secure his signature.
While struggling with injuries in his last two campaigns, the opportunity to sign Allen is one the Lions cannot pass up. Allen's potential to create a dynamic forward line with rising star Logan Morris is strong and, once fully healthy, could very easily churn out another 50-plus goal season.
There's plenty of reason for Allen to move north, too. The Lions have famously helped key players in recent years recover from significant injuries and return to a high-level of play, notably Lincoln McCarthy and Joe Daniher. With one of the league's best midfield groups feeding him elite deliveries inside 50 and a superb winning culture, a return to his 2023 best could be on the cards. That poses as an exciting proposition for 26-year-old.
