West Coast's assistance package from the AFL is hoped to help the struggling WA side eventually turn its fortunes back toward September contention.

The addition of Pick 19 is a friendly boost to their draft plans, adding to first-round Picks 1, 2 (via Oscar Allen's exit) and 15 (via West Coast), while the Eagles also hold the opening selection for the second night of the draft.

The addition of four extra rookie list spots will also give West Coast great flexibility in building their list, with the advantage in place for the next three years.

What they choose to do with these new vacancies will be intriguing, as the club could look to bring in experienced AFL talent to aid their burgeoning squad.

The Eagles will be able to add some of the best overlooked draftees in late November if they choose to do so, while state league level stars - much like Mid-Season Draft addition Tom McCarthy - will also hold value.

Here we look at five options for how West Coast could use their four new list spots.

1. Josh Fahey

The delisted GWS flanker would have to be one of the more promising players to exit the AFL this off-season.

His time with the Giants, where he started as a member of the club's Academy, came with controversy following last year's now-infamous 'Whacky Wednesday' celebrations.

Fahey also struggled to break into Adam Kingsley's senior side, mostly given the preference of star talent in Lachie Whitfield, Lachie Ash and Connor Idun.

The 21-year-old showed glimpses across his seven AFL games, but would be limited in exposure given he was the starting sub in a majority of those matches.

What was the AFLPA's response to the GWS sanctions?

His form in the VFL was dominant, offering a slingshot style of play from the back half while also being an aerial intercepting threat.

For West Coast, a player in Fahey's mould would allow the likes of Brady Hough and Tom McCarthy more time further up the field, while Fahey too could slot onto a wing.
