Adelaide will be without small forward Josh Rachele for the coming weeks after scans revealed a Posterior Capsular tear and bone compression following his knee injury on Sunday.
Rachele was subbed out of the Round 17 win over Melbourne at Adelaide Oval at half-time after awkwardly landing in a marking contest.
The young Victorian underwent scans which have since cleared Rachele of ligament damage to his knee, however the attacker is still facing a spell out of action.
The Crow will need multiple weeks in a moon boot before the club can make a more definitive call on his return timeframe.
โThankfully, Josh has avoided any ligament damage in the knee, which is a relief,โ Burgess said.
โHe'll have surgery to elevate the bone in his knee and likely be in a brace for a few weeks.
โOnce out of the brace, we'll progress his training loads from there.โ
Fringe small forward Luke Pedlar could be named in Rachele's place after he suffered a corked quaf and returned via the SANFL over the weekend, having 24 disposals and kicking one goal in a 100-point win.
Adelaide could also recall defender Nick Murray, who also played in the SANFL side's win over Woodville-West Torrens after a long spell on the sidelines with a knee injury.
The Crows will head to Melbourne this week to face the Western Bulldogs at Marvel Stadium on Saturday, with both sides to name their sides at 6:20pm (AEST) on Thursday night.
