Sturt's Kale Matthews-Hampton and Northern Territory's Sonny Smiler have been added to the AFL Academy squad.
The pair come in due to injuries to Port Adelaide-tied top pick contender Dougie Cochrane, Sydney Academy forward Aidan McCartney and Dandenong Stingrays defender Darcy Szerszyn.
Matthews-Hampton comes in after being the only bottom-aged player to represent South Australia during its triumphant Under-18s National Championships run.
A 187cm defender who has an established reputation as an intercepting defender, he has been given opportunities in the midfield this season, where he will continue to be given exposure, with his defensive nous and thirst for the contest shining bright.
Smiler, meanwhile, captured attention with a strong showing in February's Indigenous vs Multicultural Academy showcase.
Recruiters have been taken by his lightning speed and x-factor.
Smiler played in the Under-17s Futures game on AFL Grand Final day last year, and represented NT Thunder in the Talent League and as an over-ager at the Under-16s Development Championships.
The AFL Academy takes on North Melbourne's VFL side at Arden Street Oval on Sunday followed by a clash with Richmond's VFL side at Ikon Park six days later, with the likes of Carlton father-son prospect Cody Walker, and exciting duo Arki Butler and Kodah Edwards in action.
