An Essendon young gun has made his first appearance in our Rookie Rankings for 2025 following another strong outing in the red and black in Round 19.

He takes Luke Trainor's spot in our top eight, with the other seven rookies in contention holding their spots from last week.

A Carlton defender had his best game in the navy Blue to earn an honourable mention, joining two Tigers and an Eagles midfielder in doing so.

2Murphy Reid (-)

Despite not kicking a goal, Reid was again a livel presence in Fremantle's front half, mostly with his pressure on the Magpies.

That included a holding the ball free kick after a tackle on Magpie Scott Pendlebury in the fourth term in what was a big win for the travelling side at a crucial point of the game.

Reid ended his afternoon with 14 disposals, four marks and three inside 50s in the nail-biting one-point win at the MCG.

The crafty rookie will play his second Western Derby this week against the Eagles, looking to back up his 19-disposal outing from the corresponding game earlier this year.
