Emerging Essendon star Nate Caddy has signed a contract extension to remain with the Bombers until 2028.

Already contracted until 2026, the Bombers have collected the signature of their prized young forward for a further two seasons, as the 2023 draftee continues to develop as an exciting prospect for the future.

After playing just 10 games at the top flight in 2024, Caddy has played in all 14 games this season and has already become a key target inside the Bombers' forward line. In six games this season, the 19-year-old has kicked multiple goals.

The flashy aerial threat has produced several highlight-worthy moments in 2025, including an over-the-head major that could earn Caddy the goal of the year award come season's end.

The top ten selection is among a growing young core at the Hangar, with the likes of Archie Roberts, Isaac Kako and Angus Clarke also emerging in 2025 as players for Bombers fans to be excited about for the future.

Caddy said the potential for the Bombers' future success is a reason the key forward will continue to don the sash for at least the next three and a half years, and is grateful for the opportunity Essendon have provided him.

"From day one when taken at Pick 10 by the Bombers, I've always felt that trust and belief from everyone at the club, so it's super exciting and rewarding to be offered the two-year contract extension,โ€ Caddy said.

"We've got such a tight-knit group at the club. The senior group really lead the way and drive us to work harder and be better, and we have the younger guys who provide plenty of energy, hunger and fun. It's great having a mix of both.

โ€œThis season has been a good learning curve, especially for us young guys. We are all hungry to be better and succeed. We can see the direction we're heading, and we know we're building towards something special.

"To continue playing in front of the Bomber fans is unreal, there's nothing quite like playing in front of them. Every time we run out, they're always there, and it really drives us as a playing group. I hope to give the fans plenty more goals to cheer about over the coming years."

Caddy and the Bombers take on Gold Coast following their mid-season bye this week, before games against Richmond and GWS follow.
