Former Fremantle midfielder and current assistant coach Josh Carr has been hit with a $6000 fine after breaching quarantine protocols in July of this year.
Carr, 41, was found to have fallen foul of Western Australia's strict Covid measures after the Dockers returned home following their defeat to Sydney on the Gold Coast in Round 19.
According to a recount from Heather McNeill ofย The Age,ย Carr had been gifted the ability to fly from the sunshine state to Perth after the loss, but was told that he must isolate for 14-days upon returning west.
However, after police made a visit to his residence just three-days into this period, the 207-gamer was found not to be at home. Due to this, Carr was charged with three-counts of 'failing to comply with directions'.
The ex-Fremantle and Port Adelaide player's case was heard in the Fremantle Magistrate Court on Friday, with details emerging that he had departed his home due to a cleaning service arriving and that he had visited several businesses during this period.
Although it was stated that Carr had not left his vehicle during these aforesaid jaunts, he was also charged with entering his brother's unattended home and taking his son to a speech pathologist the following day.
Carr's fine is the third handed down to a member of the club for similar offenses, with former Docker Jesse Hogan being slapped with an $8000 charge for a breach in 2020 and rookie defender Brandon Walker ending a walk with his dog $1000 lighter following the transgression earlier this year.
The Fremantle Football Club issued an official statement on Friday afternoon that included a message from the club's CEO, Simon Garlic.
โJosh has demonstrated genuine and deep remorse for breaching the police-issued directions orders,โ Garlick said.
โHe fronted both the playing group and an all of staff meeting, where he apologised for his actions and the negative impact theyโd had on the Club.โ
Carr was initially stood down by the Dockers for a fortnight after said charges were laid.
