This year's 2025 VFL premiership will be battled out between the Footscray Bulldogs and the Southport Sharks at IKON Park on Sunday.
The pair of clubs progressed through the preliminary finals, with the Bulldogs taking care of second seed, Box Hill Hawks, by 31 points, while the Sharks dominated fellow non-AFL affiliate club Frankston Dolphins, to the tune of 88 points.
Footscray's Will Lewis and Zac Walker combined for nine goals against the Hawks, while AFL-listed players Adam Treloar (31 touches and five clearances) and Anthony Scott (37 possessions, nine clearance and seven tackles) were pivotal in the win.
Sharks forward Hugh Dixon kicked eight goals, while pressure small Josh Gore was inaccurate, kicking 2.7. Jacob Dawson was also ultra impressive through the midfield, amassing 38 possessions and 10 clearances.
Footscray claimed the minor premiership after a stellar season, winning 15 matches from 18 starts. Southport finished third and faced the Hawks in the qualifying final and shocked them on their own turf.

Ironically, the duo haven't met in 2025, and it will be their first look at one another on Sunday.
They faced each other last year in the preliminary final, with the Sharks prevailing by 10 points at Whitten Oval, however, they were downed by Werribee by one goal in the decider.
The Bulldogs last won the reserves flag in 2016, when the club did the double and secured a drought-breaking AFL premiership.
Footscray also saluted for the VFL premiership two years before that, ending a 26-year wait.
Southport claimed the NEAFL premiership in 2018, and was included in the VFL in 2021. On Sunday, it will be the Sharks' third grand final appearance in five seasons.
Sunday's match will take place at Princes Park at 2:15 pm (AEST) and tickets can be purchased from 12:00 pm (AEST) on Tuesday, 16 September via the link below:
