Brisbane and Casey Demons keep their premiership hopes alive after eliminating Richmond and the Williamstown Seagulls in week one of the 2025 VFL finals.

The Lions defeated the Tigers in a tough-fought victory, while the Demons cruised past the Seagulls, thanks to a seven-goal performance from Noah Yze.

Frankston Dolphins and the Box Hill Hawks are thankful for the double chance after blowing their opportunities for a home preliminary final.

The Dolphins were no match for the minor premiers, the Footscray Bulldogs, and will take on Casey in a semi-final. Meanwhile, the Southport Sharks upset the Hawks away from home, placing them in the box seat for a grand final berth.

Box Hill will host Brisbane on Saturday morning, with Frankston's clash against Casey later on in the day.
