Prominent Essendon assistant Blake Caracella has thrown his name into the ring for a potential AFL senior coaching job.
Caracella has been a key member of three premierships in the past decade - one with Geelong and two the Richmond - and has previously been touted as a future coach in the league.
Having since ventured to Tullamarine ahead of the 2020 season, Caracella has reunited with former Tigers assistant Ben Rutten, with the pair now nurturing the Bombers' young list.
Discussion surrounding future coaching positions has come into heavy discussion in recent weeks, with Collingwood currently seeking a successor to Nathan Buckley, while Carlton undergo a review of the club's hierarchy.
Hawthorn also announced their succession plan that will take place at the end of the 2022 season, with four-time premiership coach Alastair Clarkson making way for club great Sam Mitchell.
When speaking toย AFL Nation,ย Caracella - a former assistant at the Magpies - stated his availability should a club come calling.
โIโm certainly open to a phone call from a club if they felt the need to speak to me,โ he said.
โBut I havenโt given it a lot of thought really with the footy cap and the amount of work weโre doing at the moment.
โThereโs not much time to think about those things, but Iโm certainly open to a phone call.โ
The open Collingwood role has been linked to several notable candidates, with Clarkson joining the likes of Brad Scott, Ross Lyon and current Magpies caretaker coach Robert Harvey all suggested to be in consideration for the position.
