It's arguably the match-up of the century.
Dangerfield-Fyfe. Fyfe-Dangerfield. Two midfield stars who were the new faces of the AFL went head-to-head, and they didn't disappoint.
A combined stat line reads as below, which is even more impressive when considering the rain poured down on Adelaide Oval on that fateful night.
| Player Ratings | Supercoach | Dis | CP | I50s | Clr | Goals | SI | Tkls | MG | |
| Fyfe | 35.5 | 158 | 40 | 26 | 10 | 14 | 1 | 5 | 6 | 876 |
| Dangerfield | 23.9 | 188 | 38 | 29 | 6 | 9 | 1 | 7 | 8 | 563 |
Fyfe was awarded the three Brownlow votes as well as the 10 coaches' votes; Dangerfield followed closely behind with two and eight.
It would play a pivotal role in securing the Dockers star's first Brownlow medal, topping West Coast's Matt Priddis and Hawthorn's Sam Mitchell.
But it would foreshadow Dangerfield's rise to stardom, who would be the recipient of 'Charlie' the following year after his first campaign with Geelong.
"I remember coming to the bench, and one of the biggest impacters on my career is Scott Camporeale (Adelaide midfield coach)," Dangerfield said.
"It was a couple of expletives, followed by, 'When he's there, you go to him.'
"It was a match-up, but it wasn't necessarily head-to-head; but it became pretty quickly head-to-head.
"And Scott made it pretty clear, in no uncertain terms, about how loose I was in the first five or six minutes.
"It was one of those ones you reflect back on and go, ‘that was pretty special.’"

"And then as the game went on, it was either he or I. It was one of those games, things were working for both of us.
"It was one of those ones you reflect back on and go, ‘That was pretty special.'"
The coaches at the time, Phil Walsh (Adelaide) and Ross Lyon (Fremantle) were in awe of the battle between the two, so much so that they refused to put tags on them, allowing the duel to commence for 78 minutes.
"Call me a weirdo, but I think we have to protect the look of the game," Walsh said in explaining why he avoided a heavy tag on Fyfe.
"I want to win, but I also think the fans want to see those great battles."
Lyon agreed: "We both let it roll and backed our players in."
"We acknowledged Dangerfield was getting a fair bit, and we thought we'll just let it sit. We didn't want to go negative. We wanted to attack through the midfield," said Lyon.
"So we just stuck it out and we were happy with the outcome."
Fremantle claimed the victory in trying conditions by nine points, and stayed two games clear at the top of the ladder with an unblemished record after Round 9.
They'd go on to claim the minor premiership, but fall in the penultimate week to Hawthorn, who secured a three-peat of flags against West Coast.
Adelaide finished 2015 in seventh position and toppled the Western Bulldogs before they ran into the Hawks in the semi-final.
