Recently cut Cats midfielder Xavier Ivisic has joined local side St Mary's in the Geelong Football Netball League for 2026.

A product from the area, Ivisic spent the past 12 months at Kardinia Park after being recruited via the Rookie Draft, having enjoyed a strong draft year with the Geelong Falcons and Vic Country.

The 19-year-old played 13 games for the Cats' VFL side in 2025, averaging 15.2 disposals and 3.5 tackles per game, while a syndesmosis injury limited his sole season in the top flight.

After being one of four Geelong players delisted at the cessation of the recent season, Ivisic has made the short trip to St Mary's for next year.

The local club confirmed the signature of the promising ball winner, who will also suit up for Werribee in the VFL following his AFL exit.

"St Mary's Sporting Club is excited to announce that Xavier Ivisic has signed on for season 2026," a club post read.

"Xavier strengthens a family connection with the club, joining his younger brother Noah who plays in our under 14s, as well as his father Joe who played under 18s and seniors in the late 90's.

"Xavier joins the club from Geelong, where he was drafted as a rookie in 2024 after impressive seasons with the Geelong Falcons and Geelong Grammar.

"A highly skilled player with serious pace, Xavier will also spend the season on Werribee's VFL list.

"Welcome to the club Xavier, we are excited to see you pull on the green and blue."

St Mary's are coming off a premiership-winning campaign, having taken out the GFNL with a 13-point victory over St Joseph's in this year's season decider.

The club's premiership defence will get underway on April 11 next year against Lara.
