Adelaide has confirmed star player Izak Rankine won't feature in this week's match simulation against Port Adelaide due to a hamstring strain, while the club has also put a line through the selection of Mitch Hinge, Isaac Cumming and Sid Draper.

Rankine was spotted in talks with club medical staff on Wednesday after hurting his hamstring at training, with scans since detecting a low-grade strain.

“Thankfully Izak's strain is only minor, but we won't risk playing him in our upcoming pre-season matches,” Crows high performance boss Ian McKeown said.

The diagnosis has kept Rankine in the running to feature in next week's Community Series clash with Fremantle, which will prove critical in his preparation for the 2026 season, given the one remaining game of his suspension that will see him miss Round 1.

The Crows will face the Dockers on February 28, two weeks out from their season opener against Collingwood. Rankine's first game available is scheduled to come a week later against the Western Bulldogs.

Meanwhile, Hinge (back soreness), Cumming (hamstring) and Draper (groin) won't feature against the Power on Friday.

Draper is expected to face the Dockers for Adelaide's last tune-up of the pre-season, while Hinge and Cumming will undergo further assessment ahead of that practice match.

The Crows are already without Mark Keane (leg) and Dan Curtin (knee) for the opening months of the new season, adding to Rankine's absence for the Round 1 bout with the Magpies at the MCG.
